The cost of a bespoke Pergola can be all over the shop, to be honest, it really does depend on the size and complexity of the job. Our jobs typically fall within a fairly broad range - mid teens to £50,000+, but the more elaborate the design the more it'll cost.
What is the big difference between a rotating vs a fully retractable louvre roof ?
Louvres that rotate can be tilted to pretty much any degree, which lets you control the amount of sunlight, shade, ventilation & airflow you get , so really its all about finding the right balance for your space. Fully retractable louvres slide right back allowing the roof to completely open up & you get a much more direct connection to the sky. For me its all about the architecture & what the space is intended for.
Are Lusso Verde Pergolas waterproof ?
Our louvre roof systems are designed to be pretty water tight when closed up , the water just drains away through the structure - but its worth noting a pergola is still just an outdoor structure & not a fully sealed building. So you can expect some water getting in during the odd downpour or when the winds are howling.
Do I need planning permission for a Pergola ?
Planning regulations for pergolas can sometimes be unclear and may vary between local authorities. In many residential cases, planning permission is not required; however, this will depend on the specific location and circumstances of your property.
Planning permission may be required in certain situations, including where:
- Your property is located within a conservation area
- Your property is a listed building
- The pergola is positioned on the front aspect of the property
The location and height of the structure are also important considerations. As a general guide, where a structure is positioned within 2 metres of a property boundary, the maximum permitted height is typically 2.5 metres. Where the structure is located further than 2 metres from the boundary, a height of up to 3 metres may be permitted under permitted development rights, subject to the relevant rules and circumstances.
Our pergolas are generally considered temporary structures, which can also be a factor in how planning applications and requirements are assessed. However, planning regulations can vary, so if you have any concerns, we always recommend confirming the position with your local planning authority before proceeding.

The same general planning principles apply across London, including additional considerations for listed buildings and conservation areas. However, because properties in London are often closer together, boundary distances and the impact on neighbouring properties can become particularly important.
Many local authorities apply strict guidance where a structure is located close to a boundary, and height restrictions may apply. Our pergolas are designed around the individual site, and we can discuss the proposed dimensions and configuration during the design stage.
Can Pergolas be used all year round ?
Yeah, with the right spec you can make a Pergola a really comfortable space to hang out in, no matter the weather. Adding in a bit of heating, glazing, zip blinds, some nice lighting & other bits & bobs can make it a lovely spot to be in , even in the depths of winter.

What is the lead time for a pergola?
Lead times depend on the chosen system, level of customisation and requirements of the individual project.
As a general guide, many projects have a lead time of approximately 7–8 weeks following final specification and order confirmation. More complex or highly bespoke installations may require additional time.
We always encourage clients to view their pergola as a design and installation project rather than simply a product purchase. Time is invested in ensuring the dimensions, configuration, finishes and additional features are properly considered before manufacture and installation.

How long does pergola installation take?
Installation time depends on the size, configuration and complexity of the project.
A straightforward residential installation can often be completed within 1–3 days, while larger or more technically complex structures may take up to 5 days or longer.
Before installation, we carefully consider access, site preparation and any additional works required. For commercial projects, including restaurants, hotels and hospitality venues, we can also work with the client to plan the installation around operational requirements and minimise unnecessary disruption.
Can a pergola be installed on a rooftop terrace?
Yes, in many cases a pergola can be installed on a rooftop terrace, provided the structure beneath it is suitable.
The first consideration is the structural capacity of the roof terrace. The surface and supporting structure must be capable of accommodating the weight of the pergola and any additional features, such as glazing or blinds. In some situations, a qualified structural engineer may need to assess the terrace before installation.
Where the existing surface is not suitable for direct fixing, an alternative solution, such as a specially designed floating or structural base, may be considered.
Access is another important factor. Pergola components can be large and heavy, and transporting them to a rooftop can sometimes present challenges where lifts, stairwells or fire escapes have limited space. Depending on the site, alternative lifting or access solutions can be arranged.
